Pass On What You've Built, Not a Tax BillIndependent inheritance tax planning to make sure more of your estate reaches the people and causes you care about
More for Your Family
You spend a lifetime building something. Inheritance tax planning is about making sure as much of it as possible reaches the people and causes you care about, rather than being lost unnecessarily along the way. For many families, it's not something they realise applies to them until it's too late to do much about it. Rising property values and recent changes around pensions will pull far more estates into scope than most people expect. As an inheritance tax adviser in London, the earlier the conversation starts, the more options you have.
What This InvolvesPlanning Deliberately, Rather Than Leaving It to Chance
My role is to help you look at the whole picture, what you own, what you want to leave behind, and who you want to look after, then plan for it properly. Here's what that can involve:
Making the Most of Allowances and Gifting
Using the allowances and gifting rules available to you, so more of your estate reaches the people you intend it for.
Using Pensions and Life Cover
Protecting what you pass on, either by keeping assets outside your estate or making sure a tax bill doesn't force other assets to be sold.
Structuring Your Wealth
Organising how your wealth is held, so the next generation inherits as much of it as possible.
Working Alongside Your Solicitor
Where planning crosses into legal territory, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, I work alongside your solicitor or bring in the right specialist, so the whole plan holds together rather than sitting in separate boxes.
Our ApproachHow We Actually Work
We do:
Look at your whole estate, not just the headline tax bill
Work alongside your solicitor where legal expertise is needed
Plan early, so you have more options, not fewer
We don't:
Treat estate planning as a single, isolated decision
Leave your plan sitting in separate, disconnected boxes
Wait until it's too late to make a difference

The Cost of Poor Planning “I've Got a Will, So I'm Covered." You're Not.
A will decides who gets what. It doesn't decide how much tax they pay to get it. Without proper planning, estates that exceed the available allowances are taxed at 40% on everything above the threshold, often running into a significant sum for family homes alone once property values are accounted for. Left unaddressed, this can force families to sell assets, sometimes the family home itself, just to cover the bill.
A will was never designed to solve that problem. Reducing what's owed comes from planning ahead, through allowances, gifting and structuring, not from the document that decides who inherits.
Assuming Your Children Can Pay The Tax Out of What They Inherit
Whilst your children or other beneficies can pay the tax out of what they inherit, in reality it rarely works out that neatly. Inheritance tax is due within six months of death, often before probate is even granted and assets can be accessed. That can mean a rushed sale of the family home or other assets to raise the cash in time, frequently at a lower price than if there'd been time to sell properly. Planning ahead means your family inherits on their terms, not under time pressure.

It applies to more people than you'd think. Rising property values alone have pulled many estates into scope that wouldn't have been affected a decade ago. It's worth checking your actual exposure rather than assuming you're not affected.

Completely. There's a difference between using the allowances and reliefs Parliament has deliberately put in place, and trying to dodge tax you legitimately owe. Inheritance tax planning is the former. Nobody is required to structure their affairs in the most expensive way possible, and using the rules as intended isn't a grey area, it's simply good planning.

Often, yes, particularly for wills, trusts and powers of attorney. I work alongside your solicitor or bring in the right specialist, so your financial plan and legal documents are aligned rather than working in isolation.
